Dear friends of Nantucket Community Sailing, Nantucket Race Week, and the Opera House Cup,

Nantucket Race Week and the Opera House Cup are the major fundraising events for Nantucket Community Sailing (NCS). Each year Nantucket Community Sailing teaches 1,000 children to sail. Half of the students are island kids and NCS gives them scholarships for up to four weeks of sailing so that those children can have the opportunity to get out on the water and learn the life lessons that sailing instills, including confidence, discipline, and a respect for the marine environment. While Nantucket is well known as a high-end resort location, the families who live on the island often struggle to make ends meet, and would not able to afford sailing lessons for their children if NCS did not provide scholarships. In addition, NCS provides free sailing and water sports to hundreds of children and adults with disabilities, disadvantages, and illnesses. It is NCS's mission to provide access to the water for the community, and we depend on your support to do so.

This year Nantucket Community Sailing is celebrating its 25th anniversary, and is proud to announce that over the past 25 years NCS has served 15,000 young sailors and granted over $1 million in sailing scholarships. By supporting Nantucket Race Week and the Opera House Cup, you are helping to build the future of sailing and developing great young people.
