NANTUCKET RACE WEEK INDIVIDUAL SPONSORSHIPS

Summer is almost here and so is Nantucket Race Week 2009!  Hosted by Nantucket Yacht Club and Great Harbor Yacht Club, Race Week events begin August 8th and culminate with the 37th annual Opera House Cup Regatta and its famous Awards Party on August 16th.  NRW 09 brings together sailors of all ages and skill levels as well as boats of all sizes for eight days of racing, sailing and social events.  Once again, we are proud to have Gary Jobson, President of US Sailing, join us as our honorary chairperson.

NEW RACES—yes!  Three in fact: the Open 420 class in the One Design Series, the Women's Fun Sail, and the Jobson Community Sailing Cup for 12 metres.  Hinckley will provide their motor yachts for spectators.  For the entire week we are expecting a record attendance ---300 boats!

NEW SPONSOR BENEFITS---Tickets available to race on board three fabulous boats! Buzz Goodall and his partners have kindly offered two seats for the Opera House Cup Regatta aboard their classic 94' yacht Sumurun. Also, the W-76's Wild Horses and White Wings will square off in a recreational match race on Tuesday, courtesy of Donald Tofias.

SMASHING NEW SOCIAL EVENTS—The sparkling new GHYC clubhouse will be the venue for both the Family BBQ and the IOD Pro Am Opening Dinner. "Liquid Pleasure" will rock this year's Shipwreck Ball, and the Sponsor Party, catered by Galley Beach, will be on board the lovely Arabella in the Nantucket Boat Basin.

WE ARE GREEN ---  This year NRW will be teaming up with Sailors for the Sea to be certified as a Clean Regatta.  The goal: to ensure that one of Nantucket's most valuable resources, its harbor and surrounding waters, remain pristine.

Nantucket Race Week is the primary fundraiser for Nantucket Community Sailing (NCS), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides sailing instruction for children and water sports access for the community.  Last year, NCS served over 3000 water sports enthusiasts and provided financial assistance to 85% of Nantucket's young sailors.

Shipwreck Ball Friday, August 14	Costume party. Theme-dress as any fantasy island denizen -- human or otherwise!  Live band: "Liquid Pleasure." Light buffet. Nantucket Yacht Club, 1 South Beach Street.  7:30-midnight.  Dress:  costume encouraged or cocktail.
Sponsor Party Saturday, August 15	On board Arabella, a restored 160' classic three-masted staysail schooner.  Live music.  Catering by Galley Beach.  Straight Wharf Dock.  6-8 pm.  Dress:  sport jacket.
Arabella, VIP spectator boat Opera House Cup Regatta Sunday, August 16	Arabella.   Refreshments and box lunch provided.  Air conditioned.  Launch from Town Pier leaves 9:30am.   Returns at end of race (approximately 3:00pm).   Dress:  boat appropriate.
Opera House Cup Awards Party Sunday, August 16	OHC awards ceremony, buffet dinner, dancing and silent auction.   Under the tents at Jetties Beach.  6-10pm.  Dress:  casual.
